In order to service and install IP cameras, you must have a solid foundation in fundamental networking principles. Cameras rely on proper IP addressing, port forwarding and domain servers to perform. In this course, you will gain an understanding of Local Area Network and Wide Area Network IP addressing processes and how routers are employed to block and pass IP port traffic using port forwarding and port redirection. You will learn techniques to overcome the obstacle of dynamic site WAN IP addresses through the use of Dynamic Domain Name Service (DDNS) and Peer to Peer (P2P) service, and become familiar with how to set the IP address on a PC so it can communicate over a local network.
